Data: Pictographs

Read and create pictographs where each symbol represents one or more items.

What You Need to Know

Key Concept Diagram

A pictograph uses pictures or symbols to represent data, with a key showing the value of each symbol.

Symbols can represent more than one item (e.g. one star = 5 votes).

To read a pictograph, count the symbols in a row then multiply by the key value.

Half symbols are sometimes used to show half the key value.
