Decimals: Tenths

Introduce decimal tenths as another way to write fractions with a denominator of 10.

One tenth is written as 0.1 or 1/10; ten tenths equal one whole.

The decimal point separates the whole number part from the fractional part.

On a number line, 0.1, 0.2, … 0.9 sit between 0 and 1 at equal spaces.

Tenths appear in everyday measures: 2.5 cm is two and five tenths centimetres.
