Mass Measurement

Mass measures how much matter is in an object. We measure small masses in grams (g) and larger masses in kilograms (kg).

What You Need to Know

Key Concept Diagram

Grams (g) are used for light objects like a pencil or a strawberry

Kilograms (kg) are used for heavier objects like a bag of flour

1 kilogram = 1000 grams

We use scales (balance scales or digital scales) to measure mass
