Weather and Seasons
Weather describes what the atmosphere is like outside on a given day. Seasons are the regular changes in weather patterns that occur throughout the year.
Sunny
Clear skies, bright sunshine, warm temperatures
Cloudy
Clouds cover the sky, can be grey or white
Rainy
Water falls from clouds, makes puddles
Stormy
Thunder, lightning, heavy rain and strong wind
Windy
Air moves quickly — can be gentle or strong
Foggy
Low cloud at ground level, hard to see far
Australia's Four Seasons
In Australia, seasons are the opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere. When it is summer here, it is winter in the UK!
Summer
Dec–FebHot and sunny. Many Australians head to the beach. Long days, short nights.
Autumn
Mar–MayCooling down. Leaves change colour and fall. Mild and pleasant temperatures.
Winter
Jun–AugColdest months. Short days, long nights. Some areas get frost. Snow in the Alps!
Spring
Sep–NovWarming up. Flowers bloom, baby animals are born. Bright and fresh weather.
