SAT Reading & Writing — Writing & Language Prep

Practise Standard English Conventions and Expression of Ideas — grammar, punctuation, transitions, and the digital SAT's signature "rhetorical synthesis" question type.

Exam Tips for Writing & Language

1. Read past the blank — the correct choice often depends on words that come after it, not just before.
2. Check both sides of a comma/semicolon — could each half stand alone as its own sentence? That tells you which punctuation is needed.
3. For rhetorical synthesis questions, reread the stated goal first — the "best" choice depends entirely on what the writer is trying to accomplish.
4. Shorter is often better — if two choices say the same thing, the more concise one is usually correct.
