Earth's Resources

Our planet gives us everything we need. Let's learn how to look after it!

What Are Earth's Resources?

A resource is something useful that comes from the Earth. We use resources every day!

💧

Water

We drink it, wash with it, and use it to grow food. Rivers, lakes, and oceans are full of water.

🌱

Soil

Plants grow in soil. Soil has nutrients that help plants become strong and healthy.

💨

Air

All living things breathe air. It is all around us even though we cannot see it.

⛰️

Rocks

We use rocks to build houses, roads, and walls. Some rocks contain metals.

How Do We Use Earth's Resources?

💧

Water

Drinking, cooking, cleaning, watering gardens, swimming

🌱

Soil

Growing food (fruits, vegetables, grains), gardening

💨

Air

Breathing, wind energy, drying clothes on the line

🌳

Trees (Wood)

Paper, furniture, building houses, giving us oxygen

Taking Care of Our Planet

Earth's resources are precious. We must look after them so they last for everyone. Remember the 3 R's!

♻️

Reduce

Use less of things. Turn off lights. Take shorter showers. Use less plastic.

🔄

Reuse

Use things again. Use a water bottle instead of buying new ones. Give old toys to someone else.

♻️

Recycle

Turn old things into new things. Put paper, plastic, and cans in the recycling bin.

💡 Think About It!

What would happen if we ran out of clean water? What can your family do to save water? What makes you say that?

🧪 Try It at Home!

Rubbish Sorting Challenge

Collect 10 pieces of clean rubbish from your house (with a grown-up). Sort them into groups:

  1. Paper — Can it be recycled?
  2. Plastic — Can it be reused or recycled?
  3. Metal — Can it be recycled?
  4. Food scraps — Can it be composted?
  5. How many items could you keep out of the bin?
